privacy policy
What sitkit knows about you, why, and what you can do about it. Last updated 13 October 2026.
The short version
- We use your details to run sitkit. We don't sell them.
- Card details go straight to Stripe. We never see or store them.
- If your pet sitter uses sitkit, your details belong to their business. We look after them on your sitter's behalf and only use them to run the app.
- You can ask to see, correct or delete what we hold about you by emailing support@sitkit.com.
Who we are
sitkit is a booking, diary and payments app for pet sitters in the UK. It's run by Groove Logic Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (number 11579869), at 259 Copnor Road, Portsmouth PO3 5EE.
For anything to do with privacy, email support@sitkit.com.
This policy covers sitkit.com (this site), sitkit.app (where pet sitters log in) and sitkit.link (customers' booking pages).
If you're a pet sitter
This applies if you have a sitkit account. We're responsible for these details: in data protection law, we're the "controller".
What we hold
- Your account: your email address and your password. The password is stored scrambled, so we can't read it.
- Your business: its name, your name, the names of any sitters you add, your logo and colour, and your usual visit price.
- Your work: the customers, bookings, visits, prices and notes you add.
- Payments: if you take card payments, the amount and date of each payment and refund, and whether your Stripe account is ready to take payments. Stripe asks for your identity and bank details itself. We don't see or store them.
- Messages: anything you send us when you email support.
What we do with it
- Run your account: show you your diary, send your customers their booking pages and take payments for you. We do this because it's what you signed up for (a contract).
- Email you about your account: to confirm your email address and reset your password.
- See how the app is used: which screens are opened and what's tapped, along with recordings that replay what was on your screen. These are linked to your account and email address, so we can work out what to improve and help when you get stuck. We have a legitimate interest in making sitkit better.
- Find and fix faults: when something goes wrong, an error report is recorded. It can include your account, your IP address and browser, and what was being saved at the time. We have a legitimate interest in keeping sitkit working.
- Help you: we may look at your account to give you support.
- Follow the law: for example, keeping records for tax.
Your customers' and sitters' details
The details you add about your customers and your sitters are yours. You're responsible for them, and we handle them only on your instructions, to run the app for you. In data protection law, you're the "controller" and we're your "processor".
That means it's up to you to tell your customers how you use their details, and to only record what you need. If a customer asks you to see, correct or delete their details, we'll help you do it.
If you're a customer of a pet sitter
Your pet sitter uses sitkit to keep track of your bookings. They decide what to record and they're responsible for it. We store it for them.
What your sitter records
- Your name, address, phone number and email address.
- Your bookings: the dates, visits, times and prices.
- Notes for the visits. These might cover your pets, their routine and how to get into your home.
- What you've paid and any refunds.
Your booking page
Your sitter sends you a link to a page showing your booking. There's no account or password, so anyone with the link can see the page.
Paying by card
Payments are taken by Stripe, on a Stripe page. Stripe collects your card details and email address, and uses them to take the payment and to prevent fraud. We send Stripe your name and booking reference so your sitter can match the payment to you. We're told that you've paid and how much. We never see your card number.
Seeing or changing your details
Ask your pet sitter first, since the details are theirs. If you can't reach them, email support@sitkit.com and we'll pass your request on and help them deal with it.
If you're visiting sitkit.com
We count visits to this site with Plausible, which is built to do it without cookies and without identifying anyone. We see totals: how many people came, which pages they read and which sites sent them.
Like every web server, ours keeps a log of requests, including IP addresses, for security and for fixing faults.
If you email us, we keep the conversation so we can reply and refer back to it.
Who we share details with
We use a few other companies to run sitkit. Each gets what it needs for its part.
- DigitalOcean
- Hosts the app and its database, in London.
- Stripe
- Takes card payments and pays them out to pet sitters. Stripe also uses payment details for its own purposes, such as preventing fraud and meeting financial rules, under its own privacy policy.
- Postmark
- Sends our account emails. Based in the USA.
- PostHog
- Records how pet sitters use the app, including replays of their screens, which can show the customer and booking details on them. The data is stored in the EU.
- Honeybadger
- Records error reports when something goes wrong in the app. Based in the USA.
- Plausible
- Counts visits to sitkit.com. The data is stored in the EU and doesn't identify anyone.
- GoAddress
- Looks up addresses when a pet sitter types a postcode. It's sent the postcode or the address being typed, not who it belongs to.
- Google Fonts
- Supplies the typeface for our headings. Your browser fetches it from Google, which sees your IP address when it does.
We'd also share details if the law required it, or if sitkit moved to another company, in which case your details would move with it.
Some of these companies are outside the UK. Where details leave the UK, they're protected by safeguards that UK law recognises: either the country has been approved as having adequate protection, or the company has signed standard contract terms that hold it to UK standards.
Cookies
- sitkit.com
- No cookies.
- sitkit.app, where pet sitters log in
- One cookie that keeps you logged in as you move around, and another that remembers you for two weeks if you tick "Remember me". The app needs these to work. PostHog also sets a cookie to tell one visit from the next. It isn't needed for the app to work.
- sitkit.link, customers' booking pages
- One cookie, needed to keep the pay button secure. When you go to Stripe to pay, Stripe sets its own cookies, described in its cookie policy.
How long we keep things
- We keep your account and everything in it for as long as the account is open.
- When you close your account, we delete it and its customers and bookings within 30 days, apart from bookings paid for through sitkit. Copies in our backups are gone within a further 30 days.
- Records of payments and refunds, with the bookings and customers they belong to, are kept for six years for tax and accounting. Stripe keeps its own records for as long as the law requires it to.
- Error reports and server logs are kept for up to 90 days.
Keeping it safe
Everything you send to sitkit travels over an encrypted connection, and passwords are stored scrambled.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask us to:
- give you a copy of what we hold about you;
- correct anything that's wrong;
- delete your details;
- stop or limit how we use them, including for seeing how the app is used;
- give you your details in a form you can take elsewhere.
Email support@sitkit.com and we'll reply within a month. It's free.
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your details, please tell us first so we can put it right. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK's data protection regulator, or call them on 0303 123 1113.
